- MOUNT SAVAGE — Eugene J. Often, 74, Main Street, died Monday, July 10, 1989, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born Oct. 23, 1914, in Mount Savage, he was the son of Verda (Blank) Often, Mount Savage, and the late George Often. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel (Mull) Often, in 1985. Mr. Often was a retired employee of the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company and a member of Local 26, United Rubber Workers of America, and the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving in addition to his mother are two daughters, Mrs. Norma Jean McKenzie, Mount Savage; and Mrs. Dottie Jo Kennell, Oldtown; two sons, Walter Fay Often, McCoole; and Richard E. Often, Mount Savage; one brother, Gerald Often, Barberton, Ohio; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg. Services will be conducted there Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. James Richard Smith. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, near Cumberland. Cumberland Times-News, Tuesday, July 11, 1989
