  Notes	James E. "Pokey" Ward Jr., 82, of Finzel, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at WMHS Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center with his son at his side. Born Jan. 24, 1937, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late James Edward and Leona (Pressman) Ward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Margaret Ward, in 2018; brother, William Ward; and brother-in-law, Jerry Davis. Mr. Ward attended Beall High School and was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He retired from the Garrett County Board of Education. He loved music and playing the guitar. Surviving are his son, James Ward III and his wife, June; grandchildren, Justin Adams, Frostburg, Amanda Ward, Huntersville, N.C., and Zachary Ward, Castine, Maine; great-grandson, Kaden Adams; sisters, Betty Langan and husband, Joe, and Mildred Davis; brother, Earl "Buv" Ward and wife, Libby; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou "Pinky" Ward and Maxine Bond; brother-in-law, Kenny McKenzie and partner, Linda Connor; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2019, from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Penick and the Rev. Diane Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Emmanuel Methodist Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Agnew officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Emmanuel Methodist Church, Finzel, or Eastern Garrett Volunteer Fire Department. The family thanks the staff of Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center for their wonderful care and compassion during James' residency there. Published in Cumberland Times-News on November 15, 2019
