Higgins, 85, of Monticello died at 11:10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 1991, at Kirby Hospital, Monticello." "Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at the First Baptist Church, Monticello, with the Rev. Darrell Seest and the Rev. Richard Nelson officiating. Burial was in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign." "Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Higgins was born Sept. 30, 1906, at Monticello, a son of Isaac and Jane McKenzie Higgins. He married Ruby G. Allen on June 29, 1938, at Monticello. She survives." "Also surviving are a son, Larry Higgins of Champaign; two daughters, Donna Alexander of Monticello and AnnaLee Whitlow of High Point, N. C.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lewis Higgins of Monticello and Harold Higgins of Pana; and a sister, Mary Walker of Decatur." "He was preceded in death by a brother." "Mr. Higgins was a retired farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello where he served as a deacon for 25 years."
