- Alice Beatrice "Beatty" Durst, 92, of Swanton, formerly of Frostburg, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Oakland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Oakland. Born Dec. 7, 1918, at Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie M. (Robinson) Garlitz. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Everett Durst, Sept. 17, 1982; her adoptive parents, Thomas J. and Mary E. Crowe; seven brothers, Berman Garlitz, Francis Garlitz, Melvin Garlitz, Denzil Crowe, Glenn Crowe, Ray Crowe, Lee Crowe; and four sisters, Ida Hetz, Elnora Minnick, Cordelia Durst and Pearl Garlitz. Mrs. Durst was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Grantsville. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Beeghly and husband Ron, Swanton. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 26722 Garrett Highway, Accident (McHenry), on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Wanda Lester officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery.
