- FROSTBURG — Leslie L. “Tuck” Whetstone, 89, died at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born in Frostburg, July 7, 1905, he was the son of Catherine E. (House) and Joseph Hampton Whetstone. Preceded in death by his first wife, Alva (McGregor) Whetstone in 1928 and third wife Margaret (Rizer) McKenzie in March, 1994; he was also wed from 1932 until 1980 to Helen M. (Harvey) Whetstone, Edgewood. Also preceding him in death were six brothers, Charles, James, Clarence, Joseph, Peter and George Whetstone; five sisters, G race Knowles, Emma Williams, Edna Whetstone, Margaret Wilson and Viola Whetstone; and a half-sister, Sarah Ellen (Whetstone) Mays. Four daughters and one son survive; Margaret Jackson and Mary Thomas of Frostburg; Doris Bruner, Cumberland; Patricia Michels, Edgewood; and Lawrence Dale Whetstone of Towson. Also four step-children, Jim McKenzie, Dona Shriver, Carolyn Shoemake and Debbie Negley, all of this area. He is survived by 80 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and by numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg. Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday at Durst Funeral Home by Rev. George Aist. Burial in Frostburg Memorial Park. The Cumberland Times-News, Thursday, August 4, 1994
