Stakem, 76, of 12204 Fall Avenue, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 1991 at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born May 14, 1915 in Cumberland, son of the late Patrick J. “Derby” and Adna (Griffith) Stakem. Mr. Stakem was retired. A graduate of LaSalle High School with the 1933 Rapplier Class, he was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of Cumberland Council 586, Knights of Columbus; Wamba Caravan 89, Order of Alhambra; Cumberland Aerie 245, Fraternal Order of Eagles; and a former member and past exalted ruler of Cumberland Lodge 63, BPO Elks. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen A. (McKenzie) Stakem; three sons, all of Cumberland: Judge Paul J. Stakem and his wife, Mary Clare; William F. Stakem and his wife, Susan; Michael P. Stakem and his wife, Diane; one brother, Frank A. Stakem, Cumberland; five grandchildren, Stephanie L. Stakem, a student at William & Mary College; David A. Stakem, a student at LaSalle College; Timothy P. Stakem and his wife, Tracey, Lafayette, La.; Shawn M. Stakem and M. Kelly Stakem, both of Cumberland; two step-granddaughters, Jamie E. Travis and Meghann C. Travis, both of Cumberland; and two nieces, Linda M. Stakem, Cumberland, and Sharon A. Emerick, Hyndman, Pa. Friends will be received Friday at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Virginia Avenue. A Christian wake service will be held there Friday at 7 p.m., with members of the K. of C. participating. Wamba Caravan, Order of Alhambra, will hold a memorial service at the funeral home Friday at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Rapplier Club members will be honorary pallbearers. Wamba Caravan will provide an honor guard. Cumberland Times-News, Thursday, December 12, 1991
