- LONGVIEW, Texas — Ruth E. McKenzie, 90, passed away peacefully early New Year’s morning in Longview, Texas. She was born in Summit Mills, Pa., on Aug. 1, 1923, she was the daughter of the late, George and Addie (Saylor) Witt. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John A. McKenzie; son, Patrick E. McKenzie; brother, Victor Witt; and sister, Margret Firl. She is survived by her older brother, Herbert Witt and wife Audrey of Venice, Fla.; daughters, Sandra and husband, Nick Miller and Pamela McKenzie, all of Longview, Texas; son, Michael McKenzie and wife, Lea, of Salisbury, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Lisa McKenzie Kemp and husband, Marty, of Salisbury; 12 grandchildren, Matthew Mc-Kenzie, Jessica McKenzie Koller, Brook Kemp, Brynne Kemp, Sean Moore, Sandy Ann Moore, Morgan McKenzie, Karstin Miller, Nickie Miller, Cindy Starr, Edward Smith and Tara Berman; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Ruth worked for Somerset County Area Agency on Aging for many years. After she retired she volunteered at Tub Mill Arts in Salisbury. Ruth was an active member of St. Ann Catholic Church, in Grantsville and St. Matthew’s RCC, in Longview, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 at Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, from 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Matthews Catholic Church Building Fund, 2800 Pine Tree Rd.
