"The Beecher City Journal" (Beecher City, IL) September 18, 1930(page 1)
"JAMES O. DURBIN DEAD"
"James O. Durbin, a highly respected and life-long resident of Louden (sic) township passed away early Sunday morning at his home near the Wright School House. He had been ill only a few days with pneumonia."
The deceased, who was aged 68 years and 21 days at the time of his death, is survived by his widow, one brother Joe and one sister, Mrs. C. V. Tipsword and a host of other relatives and friends." **
"Funeral services were conducted at the Catholic Church near St. Elmo, Monday afternoon by Rev. Fr. Bracket. Interment was in the cemetery nearby. Undertaker Cook of this city was in charge."
**(The writer of this obituary did not indicate that Mr. Durbin's mother, Katie Margaret McKenzie Durbin, was still living and would have been celebrating her ninety-first birthday in September.)
