HOFFMAN -Elizabeth E. "Liz" Lavin, 58, formerly of Hoffman, died at her home in Lanham, Md. Born June 1, 1940, in Hoffman, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Marie (Brode) Croston. She was also predeceased by her husband, James A. Lavin Jr. Mrs. Lavin was a member of St. Matthias Apostle Church where she was also the secretary. Surviving are one son, Michael Lavin and wife, J'Anne, Lanham; one daughter, Traci Lavin, Lanham; one granddaughter, Rebecca Lavin; one brother, Gerald Croston and wife, Kitty, Rawlings; and her mother-in-law, Margaret Lavin, Frostburg. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. with Father Paul A. Byrnes as celebrant. Interment will be in Eckhart Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
