- FROSTBURG — James E. Lavin Jr., 55, formerly of Frostburg, died Wednesday, March 16, 1994, at his home in Lanham. Born Feb. 4, 1939, in Frostburg, he was the son of Margaret (Meagher) Lavin, Frostburg, and the late James Earl Lavin Sr. Mr. Lavin retired from the Internal Revenue Service. He was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church, Lanham. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Liz (Croston) Lavin; one son, Michael Lavin and wife J’Anne Lavin, Lanham; one daughter, Traci Lavin, at home; and one sister, Margaret Ann Calvert, and husband John Oboikowitch, Libertyville, Ill. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church by Mnsg. John L. Reinsfelder. Interment will be in Eckhart Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
