BRUCE E. LANCASTER - FROSTBURG -- Bruce E. Lancaster Sr. went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 8, 2001. Bruce was born in Eckhart, to the late Hillary and Nellie (Lavin) Lancaster on July 31, 1939. He was also preceded in death by four brothers Charles, Ralph, George and Robert Lancaster; and one sister, Lois (Lancaster) Pope. He is survived by one brother, James Lancaster and two sisters, Erma J. (Lancaster) Wymer, Edinburg, Va. and Mary Lou (Lancaster) Minnick, Rawlings. He was a loving husband who is survived by his wife Marie (Reiderer) Lancaster, Frostburg; a loving father to four children, Susanne (Lancaster) Conklin and husband Wayne, Frostburg, Bruce Jr. and wife Julie, New Market, Jon and wife Barlinda, Frostburg and Ron and wife Michele, Warfordsburg, Pa.; a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, Brandon Wilhelm and wife Gina, Killeen, Texas, Cassie Conklin, Frostburg, Lisa Conklin, Spring Hill, Tenn., Ryan Lancaster, Frostburg, Zachary, Ian and Eli Lancaster, Warfordsburg, Pa.; a loving great-grandfather to Matthias Wilhelm, Killeen, Texas; numerous and very special nieces and nephews that were very close to him and all of his friends who were very special and dear to him. Bruce was Methodist by faith and had been a member at the Eckhart Methodist Church from childhood. He was a very hardworking man who enjoyed life, his family and friends. Bruce was an Army veteran. He was currently employed with Larkin Home Improvements, but he had previously worked for the Celanese Fibers Corp. as a pipefitter after his Army career ended. Although most of his life he was a pipefitter by trade, he was a man who could do anything and was never too busy to help anyone who needed him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him as well as all whose lives he touched in his own way. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A. on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Harpold officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. The Farrady Post 24 Honor Guard will accord military honors at graveside. Pallbearers will be John Dinning, Ken Roberts, Mark Wright, Randy Wright, Jack Skidmore and Wayne Skidmore.
