- Hagerstown - David Henry Powell, 68, of 2377 Pennsylvania Avenue, here, died Sunday at the VA Center in Martinsburg, W. Va. Born in Frostburg, he was a son of the late Walter Powell and Hannah (Lloyd) Powell. Mr. Powell was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the United Auto Workers 171, Paramount Baptist Church, here; the Lost Chord Club, Alsatia Club, B.P.O.E. Lodge 378, and the Morris Frock Post 42, American Legion. He was a member of the Pioneer Hook and Ladder Company, was a past president of the Allegany County Firemen’s Association, and a life member of the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Pauline J. (McKinzie) Powell; two sons, David L. Powell, Beckley, W. Va., L. Steve Powell, Falling Waters, W. Va.; and four grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Minnick Funeral Home, here, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at ll a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard by the Rev. Cecil C. Anderson. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, here. The Elks lodge will hold a memorial service Tuesday at 7 p.m. The family requests that memorial donations take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
