- Cumberland - Alice Louise Hoenicka, 79, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at Golden Living Center. Born April 23, 1933 in Centerville, Pa., Mrs. Hoenicka was the daughter of the late Denver Randolph Zembower and Iona (Elliott) Zembower. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Francis Hoenicka. Louise was a sales clerk for Perskins Department Store, GC Murphy, and also worked for the Maryland Job Service. She is survived by her daughter, Karen S. Matthews and fiance Greg Maiers, of Cumberland; her son, Kevin Hoenicka, of Cumberland, and her sister, Joan Crowe and husband Edward, of Cresaptown; her brother Jack Zembower and wife Blanche of Denver, Colo.; as well as six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, PA, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert Gamble officiating. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Golden Living Center for the care given to their mother. (No source listed.)
