- CUMBERLAND — Helen Wilhelmina Wickard, 86, of North Centre Street, Cumberland, died Friday, May 2, 1997, at her residence. Born Sept. 15, 1910, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John William and Bertha Minnie (Baer) Deter. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur C. Wickard Sr., in 1954; a son, Bernard Wickard; and a daughter, Shirley Wickard. Mrs. Wickard worked at the Celanese Corp. and as a waitress at Joe’s Viaduct Restaurant for many years. Surviving are five sons, Roy J. Wickard, Cumberland, Louis R. Wickard Sr., Cumberland, Charles Wickard, Va., Arthur C. Wickard Jr., Williamsport, Pa., and Harold E. Wickard, Calif.; two daughters, Marlene Virginia Lewis, Frostburg, and Ruth Catherine King, LaVale; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Tuesday at 9 a. m. with Father Frank J.
