  Notes	Samuel Patton came to Augusta, Virginia, as early as 1747, later moving to North Carolina where he owned land in Cabarrus County in 1756. He is shown, in 1749, on a petition to build a road to market and court. He was granted 120 acres of land 3 Nov 1753, on a branch of Buffalo Creek, a tributary of the James River. He is shown deliquent in taxes in 1753-1754 and the record states that he is out of the county. Two years later, he was given two grants of land in Cabarrus County, North Carolina and settled there until the time of his death. *His will was proved 21 Oct 1799 by the oaths of John Wilson, James Smith and Elizabeth Tassey* Samuel Patton was a member of the Provincial Congress of North Carolina 25 Aug 1774 and also a member of the Continental Congress. He was granted a pension for services in the Revolutionary War when he was 79 years old. (ref: Records, Colonial and State of North Carolina, Volume 10, page 780)
