Mr. Byrd very active in the Antioch Association of the Primitive Baptist Church, in as much as he and his wife donated the property for the church and cemetery, it is sometimes refered to as "The Byrd Cemetery", however the offical name is "Mount Zion Cemetery". The cemetery was dedicated for the use of the ancestors of J. W. and Frances Byrd. Ajacent and to the North is a new area, refered to as the extension and not part of the original plot.
