In August, 2013, Don Kagle, a member of the McKenzie?MacKenzie Research Group located a census page involving James McKenzie and Thersa (sic) McKenzie, Frederick, Maryland area, which listed children with the same names and ages as the children of James Elias McKenzie, b. abt. 1836/1839 the Teresa Firestone. After much consternation, the Group could not figure out just who that "James McKenzie" could be who was named in the 1910 census. We reached out to Donald MacKenzie, a descendent, who responded as follows: I can't explain the 1910 census record or summary of the census, however it can't be James Elias Mackenzie because he died December 2, 1895 as the obituaries and gravestone support. Also, I remember my father and aunt telling about how John Gilmore (my grandfather) had to leave school early to work on the family farm after James Elias died. Also James Elias Mackenzie was born around 1836/1839. The 1850, 1870, 1880 census' support that James Elias was born in the 1830s and not the 1850s.
