- LaVale, MD - Mary Catherine (Mower) McKenzie, 89, of LaVale, MD, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born February 9, 1925, in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. McKenzie was the daughter of the late Charles M. Mower and Genevieve E. (Sherry) Mower-Brooks. She was also preceded in death by a stepfather: Merrill Brooks; a granddaughter: Melanie Kay McKenzie; and the last surviving member of her immediate family. A homemaker, Mary was a former member of the Ladies of the Elks; the LaVale Lionettes; the Arm Chair Bowling League; and a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mary is survived by her husband of 66 years: Milnor “Bud” C. McKenzie, LaVale, MD; her sons: Doug McKenzie and wife, Peg, Frostburg, MD; and Joseph “Buddy” McKenzie and wife, LuAnn, Cumberland, MD; and her daughters: Deborah J. McKenzie, Cumberland, MD; and Kathy A. Jacobs and husband, Bruce, Wiley Ford, WV . She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Jessica Wilson, Smithsburg, MD; Angela McKenzie, Frederick, MD; Joseph McKenzie; Heather Adams; Laura Yost and husband, Bill; Michelle Lambert, all of Cumberland, MD; Travis Jacobs and wife, Shay, Short Gap, WV; and Devin Jacobs, Wiley Ford, WV; 12 great grandchildren: and one great-great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, from 7:00 P.M., to 9:00 P.M. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, SS. Peter and Paul Shrine on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at 10:00 A.M., with Father Mark Carter as celebrant.
