Notes	William R. McFarlane, 68, postmaster at Rawlings for 48 years, died unexpectedly this morning at his home, following a heart attack. He formerly operated a general store in Rawlings, but gave up the business about twenty years ago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Clara (McKenzie) McFarlane; two daughters, Mrs. George Paulus and Mrs. Arthur Ellis, of Cumberland, and four sons, James and Samuel, of Cumberland; Arch, with the U. S. Army in England, and David, also in the Army, stationed in South Carolina. Mr. McFarlane was widely known in Allegany county. The Cumberland Evening Times, January 8, 1943 He was buried in Rawlings, Allegany Co., Maryland.
