- POCAHONTAS — Clyde Raymond Yutzy, 92, of Pocahontas, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 8, 1919 in Greenville Township, Pa., he was the son of the late John Yutzy and Evora (Miller) Yutzy. He was preceded in death by sisters, Eva Jackson and Mary Michael; brothers, Leonard Yutzy, Paul Yutzy, and Glenn Yutzy. Clyde was retired from Kaiser Refractories. He served his country in the U.S. ArmyAir Force and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ where he served on the Consistory. He was also a member of the Allegheny Mountains Bee Keepers Association. After retirement he enjoyed working in the woodshop, building furniture, gardening, keeping bees, and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, LaVerne (Martens) Yutzy; three sons, Raymond Yutzy and partner, Doug Pirkle, Pittsburgh, Roy Yutzy and fiancée, Kathie Hartman, Pocahontas, and Dale Yutzy and wife, Gale, Wittenberg, Pa.; a daughter, Joyce Wright and husband Bruce, Somerset, Pa.; grandchildren, Christopher Yutzy and wife, Kristy, Holly Wright; step-grandchildren, Stephanie Carney, and Matthew Carney; three great-granddaughters, Echo, Skyler, and Danisha; brothers, Carl Yutzy and wife, Ruth, Gloucester, Va., James Yutzy and wife, Alma Akron, Ohio; sisters, Ruth Paul and husband Ralph, Greenville Road, Grace Bittner, California, Pa., and Thelma Baker and husband, Robert, Pocahontas. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating.
