- Mary Elizabeth Clark and Edwin Maxwell HORCHLER Sr. were married on 21 Mar 1940 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. Mrs. Martha E. Clark, Baltimore Pike, announces the marriage of her daughter, Mary Elizabeth, to Edwin M. Horchler, son of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Horchler, 634 Columbia Avenue. The wedding took place March 21 at the parsonage of St. Luke's Lutheran church, with Rev. Dr. H. Hall Sharp officiating. Mr. Horchler is a graduate of the Maryland School for the Blind, and the University of Maryland law school, and is a member of the Allegany County bar. The Cumberland Times, Sunday, May 12, 1940.
MARY E HORCHLER Wednesday, March 31, 2004 3:40 PM EST CUMBERLAND Mary Elizabeth (Clark) Horchler, 90, former resident of Frostburg, Cumberland, and Hope Mills, N.C., died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at the Allegany County Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for several years. Born July 25, 1909, in Wellersburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late John and Martha (Petenbrink) Clark. The oldest of 12 children, she also was preceded in death by six brothers, John Clark, Samuel Clark, Melvin Clark, Orville Clark, twins Carl and Clyde Clark; and two sisters, Erma (Clark) Rice and Grace (Clark) LaFlame. Surviving are one son, Edwin M. Horchler Jr. and wife Faye, Hope Mills, N.C.; one daughter Sheryl Kelso and husband Harry, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; four granddaughters, Michelle Horchler, Laura, Mary and Lindsey Kelso; three sisters, Ida Schadt, Cumberland, Edna Swan, Valparaiso, Ind., and Lois Plew, Columbia City, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Horchler was a former domestic missionary for Lighthouse Children's Ministries, and also an employee of Kelly-Springfield and Celanese Corporation. Mrs. Horchler was a body donor and was transported to the University of Maryland School of Medicine. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Memorial service was held at Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Ashby, West Virginia, on March 5, 2000, Rev. Dallas Forren officiating.
She was buried in Body Donor to University of Maryland.
