- Reed Deneen, 28 years old, bookkeeper for tho South Cumberland Planing Mill Company, died early Monday evening at his home, 420 Grand avenue, after an illness of one week, from influenza. He was a son of Ira and Rebecca Deneen, 401 Race street. His wife, Mrs. Blanche Deneen, and two children survive. Mr. Deneen was a member of Chapel Hill Lodge. No. 3, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Mr. Deneen was born near Hancock, Md. He had been a resident here for 17 or 18 years. For ten years of that period he had been the bookkeeper for the South Cumberland Planing Mill Company. He was highly regarded by the company, its patrons and the public generally. Mr. Deneen was an active member of Bethany United Brethren Church. Besides the Odd Fellows, who will have charge of his funeral Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock, Mr. Deneen was a member of Queen City Council, No. 49, Jr. O. U. A. M. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Cumberland Evening Times, February 10, 1920.
