- GRANTSVILLE — Charles Dishong, 77, died yesterday at Connemaugh Valley Hospital, Johnstown, Pa. A native of Johnstown, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Orner) Dishong. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Latrobe. Surviving are his widow, Hilda (Pfaff) Dishong; a son, Leroy A. Dishong, Frostburg; four stepsons, Donald Brode, West Milton, Ohio; James and Stephen Brode, Latrobe; and Clayton Brode of Colorado; four daughters, Mrs. Kathleen McKenzie, Avilton; Mrs.. Helen Holler and Mrs. Bette Showalter; Salisbury Road; Mrs. Eileen Layman, Grantsville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Delores Garlitz of California; three brothers, Will Dishong, Latrobe; Samuel Dishong, Hyndman; and Herman Dishong, Frostburg; five sisters Mrs. Sylvia Shumaker, Stoystown, Pa.; Mrs. Molly Wampler, Frostburg; Mrs. Goldie Walker, Meyersdale; Mrs. Marie Carbaugh, Thurmont, and Mrs. Nell Shumaker, Boynton; Pa.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home in Grantsville where friends will be received from 7 until 9 p.m. today and from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. tomorrow. A service will be conducted there Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The Cumberland Evening Times, November 24, 1969.
