- Andrew George MCKENZIE (Elias Marcellus-1) was born on 29 Aug 1879 in Avilton, Garrett Co., Maryland. He died on 6 Aug 1948 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. LONACONING, Aug. 7 — Andrew G. McKenzie, 68, a retired farmer, died yesterday morning in Allegany Hospital where he was admitted July 7. He had been ill since June 1. Born August 29, 1879 at Avilton, Garrett county, Mr. McKenzie came here 10 years ago. He was the son of the late Elias and Rebecca (Garlitz) McKenzie. His wife, the former Miss Maude Croft, died February 24, 1936. Mr. McKenzie belonged to St. Anne's Catholic Church, Avilton, but attended St. Mary's Church here after he moved to Lonaconing. Surviving are three sons, Francis McKenzie, Avilton, and Bernard and William McKenzie, both of Potomac Park, Cumberland; four daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Green, Barton; Mrs. Rebecca McLuckie, Baltimore Pike, Cumberland; Mrs. Pauline Ross, Lonaconing, and Mrs. Nora Crowe, Avilton. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Rella McNamara, with whom he made his home; three brothers, Clarence, Urban and Arthur McKenzie, all of Lonaconing; 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The body is at his sister's residence. A requiem mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a. m. in St. Anne's Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Cumberland Sunday Times, August 8, 1948
