Born in Lonaconing Nov. 1, 1904, he was the son of the late Hugh R. and Nellie (Jones) Muir. Mr. Muir was a retired mechanic for Cumberland Motor Express. He was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his widow, Julia A. (Deibler) Muir; one son, William G. Muir, Cumberland; three daughters, Marlene C. Russell, Cumberland; Flora J. Gilkey, LaVale; Wilma C. Smith, Ridgeley, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Brenda A. Canfield, James W. Muir, and Brian M. Muir, all of Cumberland; Steve P. Smith and Patricia A. Smith, both of Ridgeley; Norma C. Smith, Charleston, W.Va.; and Kevin M. Russell, Cumberland; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Flora H. Smith, Lonaconing. Friends will be received Friday at the Scarpelli Funeral Home. Services will be conducted there Saturday at 11 a.m. by Dr. Howard A. Newman. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
