- GRANTSVILLE - Thomas Austin Warne, 77, of National Pike, Grantsville, died on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at St. Vincent dePaul Nursing Center, Frostburg. Born on April 13, 1924, in Avilton, he was the son of the late Charles Henry Warne and Matilda (McKenzie) Warne. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ireta M. (Friend) Warne on Feb. 5. 1990. Mr. Warne was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Grantsville, and was a retired mechanic in the pump hospital at the Celanese Corp. He was also a member of the Salisbury V.F.W. Home Aid Association. He is survived by one son, Thomas L. Warne, Grantsville; one daughter, Judith Stoner, Hagerstown; one sister, Regina Rafferty, Grantsville; and one step-granddaughter, Tara Daniels. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, PA., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Byrnes officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. A Christian Wake Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Cumberland Times-News, January 9, 2002
