      FROSTBURG,MARYLAND -- Charles Joseph McKenzie, 54, of Winner's Lane, Frostburg, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Sacred Heart Hospital.

      Born Jan. 2, 1949, in Cumberland, he was the son of Margaret Grace (Bowers) McKenzie, Frostburg, and the late Frederick J. McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald McKenzie.

      Mr. McKenzie graduated from Beall High School in 1968 and Fayette Tech, Uniontown, Pa., with a draftsman/engineering degree. He was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, and the National Rifle Association. He loved farming and hunting. Mr. McKenzie had been employed with the Bechtel Corporation, Winner's Brothers Coal Co., and United Energy Corp.

      Surviving are four sisters, Shirley Pfaff, Frostburg, Mary Ravenscroft and husband Ray, LaVale, Veronica McKenzie, at home, and Marcella "Susie" Flubacher and husband Scott, Maine; seven brothers, Lawrence McKenzie and wife Sharon, Fort Ashby, W.Va., Anthony McKenzie, Hollywood, Md., John McKenzie and wife Mary, Eckhart, Raymond McKenzie and wife Betty, Oldtown, Leo McKenzie and wife Tine, Frostburg, Paul McKenzie and wife Carol, Frostburg, and Marty McKenzie and wife Pam, Midlothian; one aunt, Kathryn Quinn and husband Howard, Callery, Pa.; 11 nephews; 15 nieces; five great-nephews; and five great-nieces.

      Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

      A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Father William Moody as celebrant.

      Interment will be in the Saint Michael's Cemetery.

      His brothers will serve as pallbearers.

      Charles will be loved by many, and he will be missed.
