William G. McKenzie, 62, of 14505 Winchester Road, died Thursday at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit, Cumberland, Maryland, Allegany County. Born here June 26, 1923 he was the son of the late Albert McKenzie and Alice (Robison) McKenzie Clayton. His grandfather was also named Albert McKenzie (MAMc note: is this right?). His grandfather once owned the farms that the Mason’s Dairy now is located. In the year 1902 Albert McKenzie and Jacob A. McKenzie sold these large farms to John B. Gunning and years later the farms became known as the Mason’s Dairy. William was a retired employee of Sylvan Retreat, a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church and Cresaptown FOE Aerie 2883 and a social member of AmVets Post II here. Surviving are his widow, Sarah (Dickey) McKenzie, a daughter, Mrs. Joan E. Weaver, and a son, David W. McKenzie, both here, four sisters, Mrs. Annie Lease, Mrs. Helen Lease and Miss Theresa McKenzie, here, and Mrs. Margaret Clayton, Riverdale, two brothers, Thomas McKenzie and Clarence McKenzie, here, two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, Md. Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. A Christian wake service will be conducted at 3 P.M. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 A.M. in St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Interment will be in Frostburg, Maryland Memorial Park.
