- CUMBERLAND — Ronald Henry Whetsell Sr., 56, of 507 Frederick Street, Cumberland, died Monday, Sept. 12, 1994 at Memorial Hospital. Born on Nov. 25, 1937 in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Charles Whetsell and Gladys (Sanders) Whetsell. He also was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Wineland and one step brother, Charles Whetsell. Mr. Whetsell was a former employee of Smith’s Ford Agency in Keyser, W.Va. He also was the co-owner of Ritters Cafe and had been in business with his father at the Algonquin Hotel Dining Room. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and was a member of the Cumberland Eagles Aerie 245; Midland Legion Post 0169 where he had also been employed and he was a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy L. (McKenzie) Whetsell; two sons, Ronald Whetsell Jr., Cumberland; Allen Whetsell, Cumberland; one daughter, Linda Jenkins, Cumberland, and five grandchildren, Scott, Shannon, Zachary, Nicole and Dylan. Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, on Wednesday. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. The Cumberland Times-News, September 13, 1994
