- ACCIDENT - Krista Rochelle (Spiker) McKenzie, 38, of Accident, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at WVU Hospital's, Inc., Morgantown, W.Va. Born Nov. 12, 1979, she was the daughter of Brenda L. (Morgan) Crites, Cumberland, and Thomas E. Spiker Sr. and Jane Donadio, Holdrege, Neb. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Atticus Joseph McKenzie; beloved grandfather, Irvin T. Morgan Jr., who helped raise her; paternal grandfather, Edward Spiker and her grandparents-in-law, Clinton and Mary McKenzie and Carol and Deretta Duckworth. Krista loved her life, her family and books. She was currently employed with Frostburg State University as the Library Services Supervisor. Before that she worked at Garrett Community College as the Instructional Librarian. She received her Bachelor's degree in English, Master's degree in Education Supervision and Master's degree in Business, all from Frostburg State University and a Master's degree in Library Science from Drexel University. Along with her parents, she is also survived by her husband, Andrew J. McKenzie; the love of her life, her daughter, Anais E. McKenzie, who she always sang "You Are My Sunshine" to; her father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Arlene McKenzie, Accident; three brothers, Thomas E. Spiker Jr. and Matthew Kirkpatrick, both of Cumberland; Michael Spiker and Sydney, Holdrege; one brother-in-law, Scott McKenzie, Accident; five sisters, Samantha Kirkpatrick-Thomas and Eric, Taylor Kirkpatrick, Jordan Teets and Zac Grabenstein, and Summer Myers, all of Cumberland; Candice Spiker, Holdrege; maternal grandmother, Wanda Binnix and David, Frostburg; paternal grandmother, Judy Metts and Mark, Lonaconing; special nieces and nephews, Madison Kirkpatrick, Decklin Weasenforth, Octavian Casey, Clare Spiker and future Grabenstein baby; many aunts and uncles. Krista will be truly missed. God received a beautiful angel. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, from 2-8 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, from 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Daymond Schmuck officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.
