- CRESAPTOWN - Robert D. “Nell” McKenzie, 59, of 5241 West Main Street, died Friday, May 12, 1989, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. Born Jan. 27,1930, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late George H. and Nellie (Longerbeam) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, and a sheetmetal worker for Walter N. Yoder and Sons. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church; Local 100 Sheetmetal Workers; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2883 of Cresaptown; Knights of Columbus Council 5450, and the Amvets. Surviving are an aunt, Margaret Strickland, Cresaptown; and two uncles, James R. Longerbeam, Cresaptown, and Francis S. McKenzie, Cumberland. Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, LaVale. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Cumberland Times-News, Saturday, May 13, 1989
