  Notes	Flora "Flo" Lease, 90, of LaVale, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home. Born Sept. 23, 1926, in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Archibald Cook and Flora (Simpson) Cook. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Archibald Cook and Donald Cook; and two grandchildren, Paul Lease and Jaime Lease. Flo graduated from Frostburg State Teachers College. For 63 years, she had been employed by the Allegany County Board of Education. Flo spent her teaching career at Allegany High School. She was a member of LaVale United Methodist Church, Ladies Auxiliary of Aerie 2883, F.O.E., Cresaptown; Mountainside Marines Auxiliary; and, Past Regent of Cresap Chapter D.A.R. She was well known for Flos Scotch Shortbread Cookies, which everyone enjoyed during the holiday season. A sports enthusiast, Flo was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Duke University. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Paul F. Lease; son, Lt. Col. Paul F. Lease, USMC (Ret) and wife, Annie, Slidell, La.; daughter, Reba K. Burker and husband, Bob, Boonsboro; one brother, Gerald Cook; grandchildren, Tad Lease, Slidell, Jaggar Albert and Misty Wilt, Cresaptown, Lt. Karlie Madden and husband, Chuck, Tullahoma, Tenn., and Joshua Albert, Ridgeley, W.Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Haylee Albert and Justin Renn Albert. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at 10 a.m. in LaVale United Methodist Church, 565 National Highway, LaVale, with Pastor Frankie Revell, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
