- CUMBERLAND — Melba Eilene (McClellan) Herath, 94, of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born March 9, 1925, in Ridgeley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert E. McClellan Sr. and Ethel (McKenzie) McClellan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Herath; two sons, Alvin and Walter A. Herath; and ten brothers and sisters. A homemaker, Melba was employed at Celanese Fibers Corporation of America, Morin's Groceries, McIntyre's Market, and as a home health aide for the Allegany County Health Department. She is survived by her daughter, Randa Murray; sons, John and Gene Herath; sister, JoAnn Eror; grandsons, Walter, David, and Zep Murray, and Christopher Herath; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
