  Notes	Cumberland, MD - W. Kenneth Lease, 96, formerly of Washington, D.C. and residing in Cumberland, died on Saturday, April 26, 2003, at his home. Born October 28, 1906, in Rawlings, MD, he was the son of the late William Wright Lease and Margaret Elizabeth (McKenzie) Lease. Mr. Lease was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Retiring in 1973 from the United States Department of Agriculture, Washington, DC, after thirty-one and one-half years of service, Mr. Lease remained in Washington, DC, until 1996, when he took up residence in his hometown of Cumberland. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Lease is survived by three nieces, Colleen Lowman and her husband, Richard, Cumberland, MD; Shirley Bechie, LaVale, MD; and Frances Marschall, Middle River, MD; three nephews, Bernard Leese, Silver Spring, MD; Rex Leese, Frostburg, MD; and Douglas Haan, Cumberland, MD; his great nieces, Maureen Burkey, Cumberland, MD; Caroline Ratchford, Cumberland, MD; and Christine Raines, Cumberland, MD; and a special great-great nephew, Nelson Raines, Cumberland, MD. Friends were received at Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Monday, April 28, 2003, from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at 10:00 A.M., at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church by Father James Kurtz, O.F.M., Cap., Celebrant. A Christian Wake Service was conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 8:45 P.M. Interment was in Rock Creek Cemetery, Washington, DC. The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers, Kathy, Pauline, Tammy, Hilda, Anna, and Bonnie for their loving and tender care given to him this past year. A very special thank you to the hospice workers for their talented and caring gifts they gave so freely to Kenneth and his family. The love and warmth provided cannot be measured.
