Notes |
- Charles McKenzie, a promising and robust young man, died at the home of his mother at Rawlings, this morning at 8 o'clock, aged 21 years. He had an attack of pneumonia a week ago, which was the cause of his sudden death. He was an active member of the M. E. church and Epworth League. His last moments were seemingly happy ones, as a few minutes before his death he looked out and made a remark about the beautiful day and the beautiful light and said he would soon be there, and then bade his mother and others goodbye and died while quietly repeating the Lord's prayer. Thus passed away one of the noblest young men of this county. He will be buried Thursday. Funeral at Maple Grove church (Rawlings) at 1:30. Interment at Dayton cemetery. Evening Times, Cumberland, March 3, 1896.
