- LaVale- Ellen Lee Croft,78, of LaVale passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Born February 20, 1936 in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry Lee Brown and the late Sarah Ellen (McKenzie) Brown. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert Croft and a sister Mary Pfaff. Ellen was a homemaker, who took great pride in her home and her gardens. She loved being able to turn a bare piece of ground into an amazing garden that flourished with lots of flowers. Each one of her gardens was tended to with great care. Her greatest love though was being able to spend the time with her grandchildren and also her great grandchildren as each were special in her eyes and she looked forward to each and every visit. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Gardiner and husband Fred of Oldtown; grandchildren, Christina Coleman, Robert Gardiner, and Rebecca Gilpin; 6 great grandchildren, Cora Coleman, Callie Coleman, Cameron Coleman, Robert Gardiner, Zachary Gardiner, and Randall Gardiner. Also surviving, sisters Frances Iman and husband Samuel of Cresaptown, Nora Virginia Poland of Baltimore and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jen Webber officiating.
