  Notes	CRESAPTOWN - James Melvin Skelley, 88, of Cresptown, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at his home. Born Sept. 23, 1911, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John and Lottie (Chilcott) Skelley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Genevieve (Stottlemyer) Skelley, in 1985; one daughter, Doris Jean Wolford; three brothers, William "Bill" Skelley, Carl Skelley, Vincent Skelley; and four sisters, Mary Coddington, Catherine Skelley, Rosalie Mitch, and Alice Skelley. Mr. Skelley was a retired heavy machine operator in construction and a member of the local teamsters 453. He enjoyed delivering his firewood to many homes in the area and he will be greatly missed being seen in his garden in the spring. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Schmidt and husband, Richard, Lake Placid, Fla., Bonnie Lynn Horchler and husband, Jack, Whitehouse, Texas; one son, James R. Skelley, Cumberland; three sisters, Viola Twigg, Mildred Douthitt, and Ethel Howsare, all of Cresaptown; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Harold R. McClay, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery, Cresaptown. Pallbearers will be grandsons, James "Jim" Horchler, Steve Wayne Horchler, Mark Schmidt, Richard Schmidt, David Schmidt, and Bobby Hite. Cumberland Times-News, Wednesday, March 31, 2004.
