- FROSTBURG, June 9 — Anton Urbas, Sr., 72, of Vale Summit, died today in Miners' Hospital where he was taken yesterday. Mr. Urbas was president of Lodge No. 243, Slovenian National Benefit Society of Eckhart and recording secretary of Lodge No. 187, American Fraternal Union. He also held membership in Eckhart Local, No. 3817, United Mine Workers of America; St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the parish. Surviving are his widow, the former Theresa Liker; 13 children, Frank, John, Margaret, Dorothy and Elizabeth Urbas, at home; Anton J. Urbas, Vale Summit; Mrs. Clement T. Stakem, Mrs. John McGowan, and William Urbas, Midland; Mrs. William Kelly, Lonaconing; Mrs. Gerald McKenzie, Long Stretch; Mrs. Bernard Michaels, Eckhart, and Mrs. Guy Hardesty, Friendsville; a brother, Andrew Urbas in Yugoslavia, and 13 grandchildren. A requiem mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The Cumberland Sunday Times, June 10, 1951.
