- Patricia Ann Schroyer, 76, of Grantsville, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, at Shady Grove Hospital, Rockville. She was born on May 24, 1941, in Baltimore, and was the daughter of the late Pearl Davis and Jonas McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Schroyer, and two sons, Michael L. Schroyer and an infant son. Pat was a longtime Grantsville resident, who attended Northern High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who was devoted to her family and her Catholic faith. Pat was the heart of her family and touched many lives in her community. She fought cancer for 31 years with grace and a positive attitude. Pat was the best mother and grandmother anyone could ask for. She will be dearly missed and cherished forever. Patricia and her husband owned and operated many local businesses including Grantsville Foodland and Shopping Center, Grantsville Holiday Inn, and the Chestnut Ridge Gulf Station. Patricia is survived by one daughter, Connie J. Schroyer, Germantown; one son, Thomas E. Schroyer and wife, Anne, Portland, Ore.; one daughter-in-law, Marta Schroyer, Deep Creek Lake; three granddaughters, Amanda Edgar, Hannah and Nicole Schroyer; one sister, Theresa Smith and husband, Dan, Hockessin, Del.; one brother, James McKenzie, Mason, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Divine Mercy Parish/St. Ann Catholic Church, Grantsville, on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ed Hendricks officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan Smith, Guy Wayne Hardesty, Matt Rhoten, Wayne Bolden, Bill Edwards, and Bob McKenzie. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to St. Ann Catholic Church, c/o Dawn Hein, 44 E.
