  Notes	James F. "Jim" McKenzie, 83, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011, at Kaye Pogue Hospice Center after a brave battle with cancer. Jim was born June 6, 1927, in Meyersdale, Pa., the son of John A. and Bernadine (Knecht) McKenzie. He graduated from Meyersdale High School in 1945 and joined the U.S. Navy that same year. After the service, he attended Pittsburgh State University, Pa., and Salt City Business College in Hutchinson. In 1948, he moved to Spearville and met his sweetheart, Jane Berend, whom he married in May 1952. Jim's management profession included various positions in Kansas with Farmland Industries in Arlington, Ottawa, Oswego and Salina. He was business manager in Dodge City at St. Anthony's Hospital, Dodge City Junior College and Marymount College in Salina. He retired as general manager of the Salina Farmers Co-op in 1990. Jim's loves were his family and friends, who shared his wonderful sense of humor. He was very active with St. Mary's Catholic Church, serving in various capacities, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, gardening and playing cards and was involved with the Senior Center. Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jane McKenzie, of the home; seven children, Barbara Watson (David), of Arlington, Texas, Greg McKenzie (Carissa), of Alta Vista, Rosemary Sayers (Rodney), of Hutchinson, Susan Schleiger (Bob), of Derby, Betty Anne Smith (Jeff), of Tescott, and Julie Rock (Ken) and Paul McKenzie (Kelly), all of Overland Park; 13 grandchildren, Jeff and Teri Watson, Sara, Kenny, Tim and Steven Sayers, Lauren and Michael Schleiger, Brock Smith, Andrea and Katie Rock, and Kristen and Jack McKenzie; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; one stepbrother, Dan Harding, of Salina; and one sister-in-law, Ruth McKenzie, of Longview, Texas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marcelline Cleveland, and one brother, John McKenzie Jr.
