- FROSTBURG - Mrs. Katherine E. Canning, 74, of 2950 South Archer Avenue, Chicago, Ill., died Saturday at Mercy Hospital there. Born in Frostburg June 5, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. McKenzie and Mary (Freal) McKenzie. Mrs. Canning was a former member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Daniel E. Canning; one sister, Mrs. Jane Filer, Carlos; two brothers, Robert E. McKenzie and W. Alvin Mckenzie, both of here, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Hafer Frost Mansion, Frostburg, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian wake service will be held there Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church by Msgr. John L. Reinsfelder. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The Cumberland Evening Times, June 24, 1986.
