CARLOS — Anna Jane Filer, 72, of Carlos, died Friday, July 14, 1995, at the Altoona Rehabilitation Center, Altoona, Pa. Born March 12, 1923, in Frostburg, she was a daughter of the late Edward Joseph McKenzie and Mary Ellen (Freal) McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel J. Filer, on March 16, 1961; two brothers, W. Alvin McKenzie and Irvin McKenzie; and one sister, Catherine Canning. Mrs. Filer was a retired employee of Frostburg State University. She was a member of Carlos United Methodist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Carol A. Stewart, Carlos; one brother, Robert E. McKenzie and wife Irene, Frostburg; one sister-in-law, Grace McKenzie, Frostburg; two very very special grandsons, Michael S. Stewart and Todd R. Stewart, both of Carlos; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. George M. Harped. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons Michael Stewart and Todd Stewart, and nephews Edward J. McKenzie, William McKenzie, John Kroll, and Lee Kroll. Cumberland Times-News, Saturday, July 15, 1995 Is buried in Frostburg Memorial Cemetery.
