- LAVALE — Catherine Helen “Kate” Koontz, 78, of LaVale, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 1994 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born March 14, 1916 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Milnor J. and Frances (Malony) McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis H. Koontz and six brothers. Mrs. Koontz was a homemaker. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Survivors are one daughter, Bonnie G. Plummer and husband Dave, with whom she resided, and one sister, Margaret Miltenberger of LaVale. Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted Sunday at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Eric Gauchat, O.F.M., Cap, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. Pallbearers will be Douglas McKenzie, Joseph McKenzie, Curran McKenzie, Corey McKenzie, Kevin McKenzie and Jerry Witmer. Cumberland Times-News, Friday, November 18, 1994
