James Claude McKenzie, 53, husband of Mary McDermott McKenzie, died at his home, 114 South Smallwood street, after a lingering illness. He had been an employee of the German Brewing Company for twenty-nine years in the capacity of stationary engineer most of the time. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leroy Zarger and Miss Rose Mary McKenzie, both at home; two sisters, Miss Jo McKenzie and Mrs. John Wempe, both of this city, and one grandchild. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, of the Catholic Knights of America and of the Brewery Workers Union. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where the funeral will be held. The Cumberland Evening Times, January 29, 1940
