Born Sept. 7, 1930, in Grants-ville, he was the son of the late Arthur and Elva Grace (Yost) Resh. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Warner) Resh; three brothers, Harold "Snip" Resh, Robert "Jerry" Resh and Kenneth Resh; two sisters, Lois Jose-phine Crowe and Kathryn Nixon; and one granddaughter, Danielle Marie Resh. He was the father of four children, Thomas Resh and partner Jeffrey Meyers of Laurel, Barbara (Resh) Ristway and husband Edward, of Clarksville, William "Bill" Resh of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Mark Resh and wife Dawn, of Baltimore; three grandchildren, Rodney Maenner, Kevin Ristway and Carly Ristway; six sisters, Doris Cross, Cumberland, Norma Bowser and Mary Kamp, both of Grantsville, Helen Bower, Louisville, Ohio, Wanda Brewer, Fort Worth, Texas and Frances Barncord, Corriganville. His constant companion, during much of his retirement and his pride and joy, was his beloved toy poodle, Jean-Pierre. They could be seen on their daily walks at Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Emerson was a retired machinist from Martin Marrietta as served in the U.S. Navy, including service aboard the carrier U.S.S. Midway. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Wegman officiating. Interment will be in the Finzel Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
