MOUNT Savage - Gary Leon Butch McKenzie, 59, of Zig Zag Street, N.W., Mount Savage, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born March 9, 1944, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Reford McKenzie and Pauline (Long) McKenzie, Mount Savage. Mr. McKenzie was also preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Faye King. Mr. McKenzie was formerly a car man with the CSXT Railroad, and he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Saint Patricks Catholic Church, Mount Savage; the Piney Mountain Sportsman's Association, the Barrelville Outdoor Club, and the National Rifle Assoc. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Mary Louise Weezie (King) McKenzie; three daughters, Susan Marie ONeal and husband Kevin, Hampton, Va., Patricia Louise Tipton, Mount Savage, and Amy Ann Giardina and husband Christopher, Smithfield, Pa.; six grandchildren, Ashley and Abigail ONeal, Ryan Tipton, and Tia, Mya and Leah Giardina; two brothers, Ronald McKenzie and wife Carol, Hedgesville, W.Va., and Terry McKenzie and wife Diane, Corriganville; three sisters, Cherie DeHaven and husband Jim, Corriganville, Gayle Kenney and husband Gene, Wellersburg, and Debbie Stafford and husband Roy, Mount Savage; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friends can also go online at durstfuneralhome.com to find directions to the funeral home and instructions to email condolences. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at Saint Patricks Catholic Church, Mount Savage, on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father Milton Hipsley as celebrant. Interment will be in the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W. Honor Guard Pallbearers will be Scott DeHaven, Thomas Newman Jr., Lenny Twigg, John Tribut, Rodney Stafford and James DeHaven Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Criger, Richard Leonard, Lee Roy Morris, Brian Morris, Kenneth Shaffer and Donald King.
