- Paul W. Layton – Paul W. Layton, 47, Mt. Savage, died Monday, January 2, 1993, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born September 5, 1945, in Finzel, he was the son of the late Lawrence Layton Sr. and Clara McKenzie Layton. He was a foreman for the Winner Brothers Coal Company in Frostburg. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was currently enrolled in the Summerfield School of Aviation. Survivors include his wife, Ina Lee (Porter) Layton; two daughters, Mary Jo Layton, Frostburg, and Terri Mae Layton, at home; one son, Dale W. Layton, at home; six brothers, James Layton, Finzel; Howard J. (Charlie) Layton, Rawlings; John H. Layton, Frostburg; Lawrence Layton Jr., Carlos; Robert Layton, Salisbury, Pa.; and Larry Layton, Finzel. Also surviving are six sisters, Louise Albright, Finzel; Betty Fair, Littleton, Pa.; Phyllis Diehl, Pocahontas, Pa.; Donna Saylor, Salisbury; and Debbie Brennaman, Springs, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s by Msgr. John Reinsfelder. Interment will be at the Layton-Arnold Cemetery in Finzel. Oakland Republican, Oakland, Maryland
