- FROSTBURG — James Lee Layton, 81, of Frostburg, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at his home. Born June 18, 1934, he is the son of the late Jake Layton and Clare (McKenzie) Layton. He is preceded in death by his wife, Susie (Michael) Layton, and numerous brothers and sisters. James served his country in the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He is retired from L.T.V. Steele of Cleveland. He is survived by his sons, James Layton of Columbia Station, Ohio, Rodney Layton of Baltimore, and Shauwn Layton of Cumberland; his daughters, Gigi O'Baker and husband, Randy, of Mount Savage, and Candy Merrill and husband, Tim, of Frostburg. Also, surviving are grandchildren, Crystal Daugherty-Nakoff, JR. Layton, Brittany Layton, Josh Layton, and Normagien Layton; and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Layton and wife, Mary, of Salisbury, Pa., Junior Layton of Carlos, and Larry Layton of Frostburg; sisters, Betty Fair and husband, Bert, of Littlestown, Pa., Debbie Brenneman and husband, Bob, of Salisbury, Donna Saylor and husband, Rhett, of Salisbury, and Phyllis Deal and husband, Paul, of Salisbury. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at 1 p.m. with the Rev.
