He died on 3 Mar 1965 in Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. Grantsville - Howard R. Platter, Sr., 60, was dead on arrival yesterday at Miners Hospital, Frostburg. A native of Garrett, Pa., he was a son of the late William and Elida (Bittinger) Platter, and was the last surviving member of his family. His wife, Corolla Platter, preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, William and Howard Platter, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary K. McKenzie, all of Frostburg, RD., and nine grandchildren. The body is at the Newman Funeral Home where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be conducted there Saturday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Emory McGraw.
