McKenzie, 63, of 201 Centennial Street, here, died Friday in University Hospital, Baltimore. A native of Garrett County, he was a son of Mrs. Jeanette (Painter) McKenzie, Oakland, and the late James H. McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was a retired employe of the Frostburg Streets Department and a member of Faith Independent Baptist Church of Frostburg. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his widow, Mrs. Hazel (Gomer) McKenzie; two daughters, Miss Maxine McKenzie, at home; Mrs. Patsy Leese, here; two sons, Lawrence L. McKenzie Jr., and Donald W. McKenzie, both of Philadelphia; a step son, Karl Spratt, address unknown; three brothers, James McKenzie, Cumberland; Glen McKenzie, Eckhart; Edgar McKenzie, Lonaconing; eight sisters, Mrs. Imogene Snyder, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Joy Perkins, Midland; Mrs. Mabel Beechie, Vale Summit; Mrs. Jeanette Yoder, Baltimore; Mrs. Freida Wiley, Los Angeles; Mrs. Leota Wampler, Wiley Ford; Mrs. Beulah McKenzie and Mrs. Agnes McKenzie, both Akron, Ohio; three grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren. Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home here from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home tomorrow at l p.m. Rev. Duane C. King will officiate and interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Garrett County. The Cumberland Sunday Times, January 4, 1976.
